A personal trainer in an app
For my capstone project, I decided to create a very user centered fitness app. My idea for the app is to track user's workouts at the gym and provide insights and suggestions to improve their future workouts. The app will also offer a challenge system each week that user's can compete with friends in a point system to help motivate them to have a healthier lifestyle.
I started this project by doing in depth research into other fitness apps to see their strengths and weaknesses, as well as interviewing several members of my target audience to see what their needs are and how they feel about current fitness apps on the market. I then created user flows and low fidelity wireframes which have undergone user testing to refine my functionality of my app. After refining my initial wireframes, I was able to make adjustments based on the user feedback I was provided.
The I wanted the branding and styling of the app to use colours that would give the app an energetic feel, and using green and yellow as accent colours on top of a darker themed app helped bring that idea to life. Creating the high fidelity prototypes meant combining my branding guidelines with my low fidelity wireframes. After completing the prototype, I was able to visualise how the final app would function, and I tested the prototype with members of my target audience to make sure the functionality of the app hasn't changed with the added styling.
